A tripartite cooperation agreement was signed in Hangzhou between Thai, Chinese academic, and commercial space representatives on April 22, paving the way for the joint development of a Thai remote sensing satellite constellation.
The agreement was signed by Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Star Vision, a space technology company based in Hangzhou's Cloud Town, and the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing at Wuhan University.
The signing follows the launch of Oman Lens-1, Oman's first intelligent computing satellite, at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Nov 11 last year. The satellite was developed and delivered by Star Vision, and the launch marked the first time a private space company in Zhejiang has delivered a commercial satellite overseas.
Since launching its first Zhejiang-made AI satellite in 2023, Star Vision has seen strong growth. Under the new agreement, the three parties will collaborate on satellite R&D and constellation deployment, advancing international cooperation in space-based remote sensing.
