Hangzhou International Airport is stepping up its payment services to cater to a growing number of international travelers, offering a wide range of flexible and user-friendly financial services including mobile payments, tax refunds, currency exchange, and more.
1. Mobile payments (Alipay & WeChat Pay)
Foreign visitors can now link international bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, etc.) to Alipay and WeChat Pay for QR code payments. Additionally, users from 10 countries and regions can directly use their local digital wallets to scan Alipay QR codes without any linking required. Alipay's new Tap Payment function further simplifies the process.
2. License plate payment for parking
Travelers can use Alipay to pay parking fees by simply scanning their license plate at the airport parking center—no registration or identity verification needed.
3. Instant tax refunds
Foreign visitors can enjoy fully digital tax refund services. After customs inspection, refunds are deposited directly into the traveler's Alipay account. Some stores in Hangzhou also offer immediate refund options for purchases over 500 yuan ($68), with refund rates up to 11 percent.
4. Currency exchange and cash services
Currency exchange counters are available in international and regional arrival areas (6:30 am – 11 pm). Several 24-hour ATMs operated by major banks like Bank of China and ICBC support international card withdrawals.
5. Payment service center for international travelers
Located at the T4 International & Regional Arrivals exit, the payment service center offers assistance with mobile payments, ATM access, and currency exchange. Translation devices are available from 9 am to 9 pm.
6. Additional payment options
Most airport merchants accept international credit cards such as UnionPay and Visa. While mobile payments are widespread, cash transactions are still accepted at select stores.
