The Centrifugal Hypergravity and Interdisciplinary Experiment Facility, a key national science infrastructure project, was delivered in Yuhang district, Hangzhou, on Jan 3.
Installation and testing of equipment are currently underway, with trial operations of the model preparation and validation machines expected to begin in March. The entire facility is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2026.
Spanning 5.93 hectares with a total floor area of approximately 34,560 square meters, the facility is hailed as a "national treasure". It houses three main centrifuge units (including a validation machine), six experimental modules, and 18 onboard devices.
Once fully operational, the facility will provide an advanced platform for national scientific missions, groundbreaking engineering technologies, and frontier material science research. It is set to play a vital role in strengthening China's strategic scientific capabilities.
