The "Flowing Gold in Hong Kong" Zhu Bingren Art Exhibition opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Dec 19, marking the first time the master copper artist has showcased his work in Hong Kong.
At the exhibition, Zhu's two-meter-tall sculptures Dancing Figures captured the spotlight with dynamic molten copper lines depicting dancers in graceful motion. Equally captivating was his Blue and White Series, inspired by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) porcelain.
Zhu's connection with Hong Kong runs deep. In 1997, he crafted the bronze doors for the Hong Kong Hall of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and designed commemorative works like the Classic Hong Kong bronze bookmark and Bauhinia Brooch for the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China.
Known as the "Father of Contemporary Chinese Copper Architecture", Zhu has spent over four decades pioneering copper art. A transformative moment came in 2006 when a fire at Changzhou's Tianning Pagoda led him to discover the artistic potential of molten copper, inspiring his molten realism style.
Zhu's accolades include the Franco-Chinese Cultural Exchange Lifetime Achievement Award. His 2024 exhibition at the National Museum of China, Bridging Eras, gained national acclaim, followed by international showcases in Paris, Venice, and Dubai.
