Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian shared a video on social media on Dec 17 showing a Chinese-made robot dog assisting in tunnel inspections in Singapore. "Cool!" He commented.
The robot, named SPock, is a four-legged creation jointly developed by Hangzhou-based Deep Robotics and Singapore's Eastern Green Power. SPock is being used by Singapore's SP Group to inspect a 6-kilometer underground power tunnel—the first overseas deployment of a Chinese robotic solution in such an application.

Traditionally, manual inspections of these tunnels took two to three hours, with additional time required for documenting and addressing issues. SPock revolutionizes this process by using thermal imaging and visual detection to pinpoint potential cracks or leaks, generating detailed inspection reports.
Spock's training includes mapping and autonomous navigation, as well as defect recognition through machine learning. Its adaptability to Singapore's unique infrastructure standards highlights the collaboration's success.
Deep Robotics, founded in 2017, has expanded the use of its robots to power inspections, public safety, and exploration across China and internationally, marking a new chapter in the global application of Chinese robotics innovation.
