In Hangzhou, a city synonymous with tea, the China National Tea Museum offers a gateway into the rich heritage and artistry of tea culture.
As China's only national-level museum dedicated to tea and its traditions, the museum serves as a cultural bridge, connecting the past and present, East and West.
The museum is spread across two picturesque locations—Shuangfeng and Longjing. The Shuangfeng Pavilion, nestled in a traditional Jiangnan garden setting, houses exhibitions like Chinese Tea Culture and West Lake Longjing Tea, showcasing the history of tea, its varieties, and the evolution of tea utensils. Visitors can admire ancient tea ware, including intricate Yixing teapots and porcelain cups, while enjoying tea-making demonstrations in serene surroundings.
Longjing Pavilion, located near the iconic Longjing village and surrounded by lush tea gardens, celebrates the inclusion of Chinese traditional tea-making techniques on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. With exhibits, hands-on workshops, and scenic spots like the Tea Altar, it offers an immersive experience where visitors can savor tea culture against the backdrop of Hangzhou's natural beauty.
From weekend tea classes to live performances and interactive displays, the museum invites tea enthusiasts to explore the essence of Chinese tea and its timeless charm.
