Hangzhou was recognized as one of China's "Best Cities for Employment Promotion" for the fifth year in a row at the 2024 China Annual Best Employers Awards, local media outlets reported.
The accolade highlights Hangzhou's achievements in stabilizing and promoting employment.
By November 2024, Hangzhou reported 306,000 new urban jobs, with 118,700 reemployments of registered unemployed individuals, including 29,400 employment-challenged workers.
Efforts like the "Spring Rain Plan" have targeted groups, such as recent graduates, for tailored assistance. Public employment services have been upgraded with smart tools to provide accessible and efficient job-seeking platforms. The city developed 33,100 internship positions this year, exceeding targets and helping young talent transition smoothly into the workforce.
Additionally, Hangzhou organized 858 job fairs in 2024, offering 345,500 positions, while creating 4,142 public welfare jobs to assist those unable to find market-based employment. The city also launched the 2.0 version of its "Employment and Entrepreneurship Map", a data-driven platform integrating job listings, entrepreneurial support, and labor rights services. Since its inception, the platform has facilitated nearly 30,000 job placements.
Hangzhou's innovative strategies and people-centered approach continue to make it a national leader in employment promotion.
