Tonglu Equestrian Park opened at the Hangzhou Equestrian Center on Nov 28, bringing visitors face-to-face with the legendary Akhal-Teke horse, otherwise known as the "Golden Horse" or "horse that sweats blood".

Revered in Chinese lore for over 2,000 years, these horses are famed for their supposed ability to "travel a thousand li (500 kilometers) by day and eight hundred by night" and their unique appearance of sweat resembling blood.

The park's Akhal-Teke ranch is home to 26 of these rare horses, including Yulong, or Jade Loong, a pearl-white stallion valued at over 100 million yuan ($13.7 million). Known as the "superstar of the horse world", Yulong draws many visitors eager for a close encounter. Guests can also enjoy daily performances such as Chu-Han Battle Song and, for 88 yuan, ride an Akhal-Teke under the guidance of professional trainers.

Additional activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, pony feeding, archery, and outdoor picnics.

The venue has transformed from the Hangzhou Asian Games Equestrian Center into a full-fledged equestrian park integrating leisure, sports, and cultural tourism. The revamped site also features a themed hotel and plans to host the 2025 Hangzhou (Tonglu) International Equestrian Open and five regional equestrian events.
