Sixteen athletes from Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, will join the Chinese delegation to compete in the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris from Aug 28 to Sept 8.

They will compete in seven different events - swimming, athletics, cycling, weightlifting, taekwondo, goalball and canoeing, more than at the Tokyo Paralympic Games four years ago.

Notable athletes from Hangzhou include three-time Paralympic cycling champion and world record holder Li Zhangyu, as well as two-time Paralympic weightlifting champion and world record holder Tan Yujiao. They both aim to set new records in Paris.

Emerging players like swimmer Zhu Ji, track and field athlete Xue Enhui, and taekwondo athlete Yao Yinan are making their debut at the Paris Paralympic Games, adding a fresh dynamic to the team.

Six of the athletes will compete in the men's and women's goalball competitions, aiming to showcase teamwork and unity, while others will test their skills in events like the 20-point mixed swimming relay 4x50m and the 34-point freestyle mixed relay 4x100m.
