The China Railway Shanghai Group implemented its third-quarter train schedule on June 15, which featured the launch of the Yangtze River Delta Super Loop High-Speed Train.
The loop train crosses three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta region, adding a circular corridor to the region's rail network.
The Shanghai-Shanghai Hongqiao G8388/9/8 loop train travels through Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Zhejiang. It connects seven railways, including the Shanghai-Nanjing, Nanjing-Chengdu, Hefei-Anqing, Nanjing-Anqing, Chizhou-Huangshan, Hangzhou-Changsha, and Shanghai-Kunming high-speed lines. The train stops at 21 stations, including Shanghai, Nanjing South, Hefei South, Mount Jiuhua, Qiandao Lake, Hangzhou East, and Shanghai Hongqiao, covering over 1,200 kilometers in 8 hours and 9 minutes.
The train links the region's central cities, creating a loop that enhances connectivity across the Yangtze River Delta. The schedule caters to high passenger demand times, serving both daily commuters and business travelers.
Currently, the G8388/9/8 loop train operates in a single direction from Shanghai Station to Shanghai Hongqiao Station.
