A cultural exchange event centered on perfume, titled "China-France Perfume Culture Year · Hangzhou", was launched in Hangzhou on Jan 27, the commemorative day for the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations.
The 2024 "Sino-French Perfume Culture Year" will host a series of vibrant activities showcasing the historical stories and cultural significance of perfumes. The initiative aims to enhance public awareness and appreciation for perfume, fostering close cooperation between the French fragrance and cosmetics industry and China.
The event consisted of five major parts focusing on perfume education and cultural inheritance, industry cooperation and exchange, and supporting independent niche brands in expanding their horizons.
A forum on the meaning of perfume was also held, featuring topics like fragrance culture and the perfume market, fostering a dialogue on the cultural exchange and market value of perfumes in both China and France and inspiring future innovations.
In addition, renowned French perfume expert Elisabeth de Feydeau hosted a book-sharing session on perfume history and a fragrance experience salon, showcasing the past and present of perfumes and the emotional expressions and values they convey.
Perfumers, brands, experts, artists, and enthusiasts from the perfume industry can join this cultural feast over the next 12 months of celebratory activities.
