The opening ceremony for the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals kicked off in Hangzhou on Dec 11, two days ahead of the finals.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Mayor Yao Gaoyuan expressed his warm welcome to everyone in attendance. He highlighted Hangzhou as a city where history and contemporary life coalesce, boasting enchanting landscapes, cultural richness, and warm hospitality. He encouraged visitors to explore the streets and alleys of Hangzhou beyond the competition venues, immersing themselves in the unique atmosphere and splendid experiences.

He expressed the city's anticipation for the BWF World Tour Finals, emphasizing Hangzhou's commitment to providing excellent event services and support, ensuring athletes achieve outstanding results and enabling citizens to witness the pinnacle moments of badminton right at their doorstep.

The event also featured the official draw ceremony for the tournament groups, unveiling the matchups for the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals.

As the first world-class competition to be hosted in Hangzhou after the Asian Games, the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals gathers 63 top badminton athletes from around the world. The tournament is scheduled to take place from Dece 13 to 17 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium.
