A China-UK economic and trade exchange event took place in Gongshu district, Hangzhou on Nov 20, local media outlets reported.

Representatives from more than 20 British-funded enterprises, including Standard Chartered Bank, Halma Group and British Petroleum, gathered to discuss economic and trade exchanges, talent collaboration, and scientific innovation cooperation with local enterprises.

During the event, officials from Gongshu introduced the district and invited British enterprises to invest and develop in Gongshu. Additionally, the Zhejiang Branch of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai was established in Gongshu's Hangzhou International Talent Entrepreneurship and Innovation Park.

The British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai has witnessed China's historical changes over the past century. Its member companies span various fields, including healthcare, finance, education, transportation, and engineering, contributing significantly to mutual cooperation and supporting the opening-up of the Chinese economy.

Local enterprises such as COFCO and East China Pharmaceutical engaged in discussions with British companies like Standard Chartered Bank, Halma Group, and British Petroleum. They explored new technologies, industries, and business formats, facilitating the sharing of technology and knowledge and identifying more commercial collaboration.

As the first park in China to target innovation and entrepreneurship among foreign talent, the Hangzhou International Talent Entrepreneurship and Innovation Park has attracted 46 high-end projects from 14 countries, including Germany, the UK, France, and the US.
