2023 Qiandao Lake Triathlon a showcase of endurance and scenic beauty

The 2023 Qiandao Lake Triathlon, part of the STC Triathlon Series, kicked off in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Nov 12, attracting nearly 1,000 triathletes from 20 countries and regions.
The event featured multiple race categories, catering to both individual and relay participants, offering a unique experience against the backdrop of the stunning Qiandao Lake.
The competition comprised the Full Ironman 226 (3.8km swimming, 180km cycling, 42.2km running) and the Half Ironman 113 (1.9km swimming, 90km cycling, 21.1km running) for both individuals and relay teams. The setup allowed athletes to choose the distance that best suited their abilities, promoting inclusiveness and enabling a broader range of outdoor enthusiasts to experience triathlon sports.

Participants had to navigate the pristine waters of Qiandao Lake for the swimming segment, followed by a demanding cycling route through scenic landscapes, and finally, a marathon run that showcased the natural beauty surrounding the lake. The event not only tested the physical endurance of the athletes but also provided them with a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience the cultural richness of the region.
