The technological advancements and innovations introduced during the Hangzhou Asian Games are set to continue evolving for future sporting events, local media outlets reported.

During the 2023 China Apsara Conference on Oct 31, the intelligent practices applied during the Games were showcased.

The Games introduced a first-ever comprehensive digital service system known as the "One Screen Three Endpoints." The "One Screen" comprised a series of digital command platforms, with the Events Operation Center at its core. The "Three Endpoints" consisted of three mobile apps, focusing on event organization, athlete participation, and spectator experience.

The digital service system greatly enhanced the efficiency of command and control during the Games, resulting in an improved experience for athletes and spectators. Notably, after the Games' opening ceremony at the "Big Lotus" stadium, a total of 70,000 personnel exited within just 40 minutes.

The Games also migrated its core system entirely to the cloud, becoming the first cloud-based Asian Games. The digital service system was based on the stable operation of over 100 sets of event information systems in the cloud, leveraging Alibaba Cloud's elastic computing, high availability, and robust storage capabilities to achieve efficient, secure, and environmentally-friendly management.

The Games also introduced nearly 20 pioneering technological applications, including the debut of the Asian Games Digital Torchbearer, the Asian Games metaverse Platform, and the holistic use of cloud-based broadcasting technology.

Sotiris Salamouris, chief technology officer of Olympic Broadcasting Services and Olympic Channel Services, revealed that the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics will implement cloud-based broadcasting by Alibaba Cloud.

For instance, the Paris Olympics will introduce a multi-angle replay system hosted on Alibaba Cloud. The system will be installed in 14 Olympic venues, employing freeze-frame technology for slow-motion replays, precisely capturing athletes' movements to offer audiences a more immersive understanding of the intricacies and beauty of their actions.
