Nearly 50 members of the Asian Para Games family embarked on a tour on Oct 25, traveling in an accessible bus to explore the beauty of Hangzhou's renowned West Lake.

The tour, considering the diversity of the group, which includes members with disabilities, was thoughtfully planned by omitting the crowded tourist spots and opting for the wheelchair-accessible Hangzhou West Lake Museum and the Songcheng Scenic Area. This allowed visitors to comfortably explore West Lake's history and immerse themselves in the culture of the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

Upon entering the exhibition hall, the centerpiece showcased the Hangzhou Asian Games torch, accompanied by a sleek screen displaying animated scenery depicting the changing seasons at West Lake.

Walking through the exhibits, a historical scroll entitled "West Lake: The World's Scenic Wonderland" gradually unfolded. Visitors learned about different aspects of West Lake, including its ecology, culture, history, and more, providing an in-depth understanding of this beloved natural wonder.

Visitors also had the opportunity to try their hand at woodblock printing.

"This is my first time visiting Hangzhou and making Chinese art. The wisdom of ancient China is truly amazing," said Aishath Nazhath, chairperson of the Maldives Paralympic Committee, as she proudly held her completed woodblock print.

After the museum visit, visitors took a boat ride on West Lake. With the beautiful lake and mountains under the sun's glow, it was a picturesque experience that they couldn't resist capturing on their smartphones.

"Most of the tourist attractions in Hangzhou have outstanding accessibility facilities. It made us feel safe. It was really wonderful," Nazhath said.
