The "Wondrous View: Top 100 Treasures from Zhejiang Museums" exhibition opened at the Zhijiang Branch of Zhejiang Provincial Museum on Sept 27, local media outlets reported.

The exhibition, featuring the top treasures from museums across Zhejiang province, is a highly-anticipated and remarkable showcase. Each artifact on display serves as a cultural testament to the rich tapestry of Zhejiang's history.

The exhibition comprises seven categories with a total of 100 items and groups, including metalwork, jade and stone artifacts, ceramics, calligraphy works and paintings, natural specimens, and modern and contemporary relics.

Among the treasures is the jadeware cong, with its intricate and unique patterns, representing the pinnacle of the 5,000-year-old Liangzhu Culture. Additionally, a jade child standing figure of the Kingdom Wuyue of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960), unearthed from the underground palace of Hangzhou's Leifeng Pagoda, is currently the oldest of its kind to be found in China.

Other museums in Zhejiang province have also contributed to the exhibition. For instance, the Huzhou Museum has provided the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) blue-and-white porcelain wine ewer featuring the earliest known inscription of the Chinese character "茶" (tea). The artifact serves as evidence of the thriving tea culture in Huzhou and is a valuable resource for the study of tea culture in Zhejiang and the nation as a whole.
