The third full rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou was completed on the evening of Sept 9, local media outlets reported.
The rehearsal included all aspects of the ceremony, including performances and artistic presentations.
The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of Sept 23 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium. It aims to showcase Chinese culture, the spirit of sportsmanship, and the essence of Asian heritage in a simple yet impactful manner.
Nearly 50,000 spectators participated in the rehearsal. The warm-up performances were vibrant, and the entire ceremony, along with the artistic presentations, was smoothly executed within approximately 115 minutes. The coordination among actors and various teams was impeccable.
The rehearsal validated the results of previous work and provided concrete guidance for further adjustments by the creative team.
The creative team explained that the opening ceremony coincides with the autumnal equinox, one of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar. The central concept of the ceremony is to promote Chinese traditional culture and showcase modern Chinese civilization, all while infusing them with technology.
Following the rehearsal, the creative team will make further adjustments to videos, costumes, props, and some equipment. Before the official performance, there will be another full rehearsal to ensure everything is perfected for the grand opening.
