The English book series Hangzhou at a Glance (Deluxe Edition), published by the Commercial Press, was launched in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, on Aug 9 to promote the upcoming Asian Games, local media reported.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Yu Guilin, deputy editor-in-chief of the publishing house, said that many of the contributors to the book are language experts or volunteers for the Hangzhou Asian Games. It is hoped that the book series will provide language and cultural services for the Games.

The series consist of four volumes, which introduce the splendid stories of Hangzhou's past and present from different perspectives.

Hangzhou Historians – A Long Walk through Hangzhou's History focuses on Hangzhou's long and unique history, centering around the formation and evolution of the West Lake landscape.

Hangzhou Hermits – Seeking a Spiritual Journey in the Green City centers around Hangzhou's beautiful natural environment and cultural traditions. It introduces the formation and aesthetic value of the ten scenic spots of West Lake, the influence of the Qiantang River on the city's development, unique tea gardens, and wetland landscapes, to name a few.

Modern Hangzhou – Entrepreneurial Hub, Shopping Heaven and Party Town focuses on the vibrant modern face of Hangzhou. It presents the Alibaba legend, features interviews with young international entrepreneurs, and explores the city's development achievements, showcasing Hangzhou's excellent business environment.

A Home in Hangzhou – Everyone Has a Home in Hangzhou describes why the city has become a spiritual home for visitors from all over the world, through aspects such as culture, cuisine entertainment, and mental and physical balance.
