The Hangzhou West Lake musical fountain show made a return after a three-year hiatus on the evening of July 25, when it started its trial run, local media outlets reported.

The revamped performance not only featured iconic West Lake melodies like Butterfly Lovers, Seven Colored Dragons, and Migrating Geese, but also the Hangzhou Asian Games promotional song Reach for the Future to its playlist.

Situated in the Hubei San Gongyuan (No 3 Park by the Lakeside), the musical fountain is one of Hangzhou's most emblematic cultural landmarks. Originally constructed in 2003, it has become one of the most well-known and highly-regarded musical fountains in the country. However, on Jan 24, 2020, the fountain temporarily closed its water and light show and has since then undergone improvements to its fountain nozzles, lighting equipment, and various artistic enhancements.

During the trial run phase, with the exception of inclement weather, the fountain will perform one show daily at 19:30, featuring a selection of four songs each time. Once the trial period concludes, the fountain is expected to continue its enchanting performances on a regular basis.

The West Lake musical fountain has always held a special place in the hearts of both locals and visitors. Its graceful dance of water and music, set against the picturesque backdrop of Hangzhou's renowned West Lake, creates an unforgettable experience. The addition of the Hangzhou Asian Games theme song in its repertoire further adds to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the upcoming international event.
