The World Cultural and Natural Heritage photo exhibition opened at the Gallery Street of Winland Center in Gongshu district, Hangzhou on June 9, celebrating the global 50th anniversary of the Convention Concerning the Production of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The exhibition showcases 68 world cultural and natural heritage sites from around the world in the form of photographs, including three World Heritage sites in Hangzhou, namely West Lake, the Grand Canal, and the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City.

Shahbaz Khan, representative of the UNESCO Office in China, said at the opening ceremony that Hangzhou has three world cultural heritage sites and has done a great job protecting and promoting cultural and natural heritage.

"I'm delighted to have this wonderful exhibition here to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the convention. We call for the participation of governments, local communities, academia, civil society, and most importantly, businesses in establishing a flexible environment to address issues of urban sustainable development, including climate, urbanization, and tourism," Khan said.

"In the next 50 years, we must work together, and world heritage remains a resilient force and a source of human creativity and innovation."

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge from June 10 to Aug 31. It provides an opportunity for visitors to appreciate the beauty of world cultural and natural heritage sites, including the remarkable heritage of Hangzhou, capturing its essence through captivating images.
