The Hangzhou Asian Games organizing committee announced on May 16 that the campaign initiated last year entitled "Everyone 1 Kilogram: Contributing to Asia Games Carbon Neutrality" has made gradual achievements.
Since its launch in last April, over 100 million people nationwide have actively engaged in low-carbon behaviors such as green transportation, paper reduction, plastic reduction, and recycling, contributing "green energy" to the Hangzhou Asian Games through the Alipay "Ant Forest" platform. The participants also received digital commemorative medals for their low-carbon behaviors.
Meanwhile, Ant Group will purchase an equivalent amount of "carbon credits" from the carbon market and donate them to the Asian Games to offset the carbon emissions generated by the much-anticipated international sporting event.
The organizing committee recently launched the "Engage in Green Living" platform, which seeks to drive collective efforts to reduce pollution and carbon emissions and support Hangzhou's vision of hosting the first carbon-neutral Asian Games.
