CGTN| Updated: April 27, 2023 L M S

Officials of the 19th Asian Games are gathering in east China's Hangzhou as the city prepares to host athletes for the competition in September. The major Asian sports event was postponed in 2022 due to COVID-19. Delegation heads inspected the venues for their preparedness. Wang Mengjie has more.

The Hangzhou Gymnasium will be used as the boxing competition venue for the upcoming Asian Games.

The gymnasium is equipped with training centers, function rooms and an underground garage over 8,000 square meters large.

BHUPINDER SINGH BAJWA Chief Delegation of India "I think this will be one of the best Asian Games. Not a same game if you see Olympic Games, this is more than that. People are very exciting I saw here."

At Huanglong Sports Center, which will host football matches, delegates learned how 'anchoring grass' using a combination of natural and artificial grass could make a stronger and more durable lawn.

JEREMY WALKER Editor Sporting Asia "I just love the atmosphere and excitement. We get that nobody is here, but you can feel the beauty of enjoying football, even in an empty stadium."

Preparation for the basketball matches is also in full swing.

TONY TARRAF Staff, Olympic Council of Asia "The venues are amazing, everything is ready to host the Games. So it's really great to see everything is ready and settle down to welcome all the athletes. Everything looks very great."

Delegates also paid a visit to the Bingjiang Gymnasium, which will hold the badminton competition.

WANG MENGJIE Hangzhou "Sport is a universal language used to build bridges around the world. After touring the venues, delegates told me that the conditions are fit and that they're confident about the Hangzhou Asian Games."
