Lee Ka Chiu John, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, visited the booth of Nano Labs, a tech company based in Hangzhou's Shangcheng district which has also opened an office in Hong Kong, after attending the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Digital Economy Summit on April 13.

Lee was interested in a 3D-printed "NFT Bull". He also experienced the latest metaverse technology on-site.

Hong Kong is currently accelerating the development of its Web3 ecosystem. Kong Jianping, founder of Nano Labs, explained that his company focuses on the incubation of and investment in technology-driven projects in the fields of blockchain and artificial intelligence, and is committed to providing digital solutions for Web3 entrepreneurs.

Web3, a term that is currently very popular but unfamiliar to most people, is the third iteration of internet technology and is known as "an internet that can be owned by users".

Hong Kong is committed to building itself into the world's Web3 capital and has established the Web3 Association and the Web3Hub Fund. Hangzhou, which is reshaping itself as a leading city in the digital economy, is also interested in the new business format.

Previously, Hangzhou's Shangcheng district government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council signed the Hangzhou-Hong Kong Web3 Industrial Linkage Memorandum, which kicked off the Web3 cooperation between Hangzhou and Hong Kong.

The memorandum includes four parts: deepening technical exchanges and cooperation, strengthening entrepreneurial talent exchanges, jointly promoting the development of scientific and technological innovation enterprises, and promoting the sharing of innovative resources.
