A group of expats working and living in Hangzhou paid a visit to Xixi Wetland Park on Feb 5, where they learned about the rich culture surrounding the area, its picturesque landscapes, and the strenuous efforts made to protect the local ecology and biodiversity.
The foreigners also visited a fishing village to learn about its sericulture and wedding traditions. They even tried using a wooden hammer to punch glutinous rice cakes.
Plum blossoms blooming all over the hills in Xixi Wetland Park added a sense of romance to the visit, especially after they learned about Chinese people's special affection for the flowers and the stories handed down from ancient times.
"I love Hangzhou. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have an in-depth understanding of Hangzhou' water town culture," said a foreigner.
