Two sports venues for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 were recently granted the China Construction Engineering Luban Prize, the top award recognizing construction quality in China, local media outlets reported.
One is the Grand Canal Sports Park in Gongshu district, a multifunctional park and also the only sports venue complex for the Asian Games to be located in downtown Hangzhou. Venues in the park will host table tennis, break dancing and hockey competitions for the Hangzhou Asian Games and table tennis and blind football competitions for the Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
The table tennis and break dancing venues are located in the southern part of the park and have a capacity of 6,900 seats, while the northern part incorporates the hockey and blind football fields and has a capacity of 5,000 seats.
The Hangzhou Mass Fitness Center, a sporting complex offering training and competition services, was the other winner.
The 70-meter-tall establishment has opened its three underground floors as well as floors 10 to 17 to the public, offering swimming, basketball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, fencing and aerobics.
The main stadium of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, also known as the Big Lotus, which will serve as the main venue of the Hangzhou Asian Games, also won the honorary title in 2021.
