Hangzhou Asian Games IPs under key trademark protection
The emblem, slogan and mascots of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 recently made the Hangzhou Key Trademark Protection list, local media outlets reported.
The inclusion was a reflection of the emphasis placed by the organizing committee of the Hangzhou Asian Games on intellectual property protection.
The emblem, mascots and slogan of the Games are more than mere intellectual property, but also the embodiment of the Asian Games spirit.
Since 2018, the organizing committee of the Games has been applying for "special symbol" recognition of the emblem, slogan and mascots of the Asian Games and has obtained approval from the State Council.
Special symbols refer to the names and abbreviations, emblems, mascots and other symbols composed of characters and graphics used in national and international cultural, sports, scientific research and other social public welfare activities approved by the State Council. A special symbol is the result of intellectual labor and held by a specific organization or activity. It may not be used by others without the permission of the rights holder.
The Hangzhou Asian Games have been postponed and will now be held in the eastern Chinese city from Sept 23 to Oct 8, 2023.
