The 2022 winter finals of the Tencent Global E-sports Arena kicked off at the China Hangzhou E-sports Center in Gongshu district on Nov 30, local media outlets reported.

As part of the 300-day countdown to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, the finals will last until Dec 25 and is meant as a rehearsal for the Tencent games included in the Asian Games.

Four Asian Games events are included in the finals, namely League of Legends, Honor of Kings (Asian Games version), Elite for Peace Mobile (Asian Games version), and FIFA Online 4.

The finals have the same requirements as the Asian Games in terms of technical support and venue maintenance, covering aspects such as overall management, secure network environment, anti-cheating systems, competition supervision, general security, and teamwork.

Ma Long, world table tennis champion, greeted the e-sports players in a video.

"I'm looking forward to e-sports events bringing new vitality to the Games and hope the Chinese e-sports industry has a bright future," he said.

An official from Gongshu also said the district will take advantage of the Games to promote the integration of e-sports with technology, tourism, education, finance, and culture.
