Four major transportation projects were put into official operation on Sept 22 in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.
The four projects were the Hangzhou West Railway Station, Hangzhou International Airport phase III, the Huzhou-Hangzhou high-speed railway, and Hangzhou metro line 19.
The Hangzhou West Railway Station, an important piece of supporting infrastructure for the 19th Asian Games, is the third transportation hub of Hangzhou following the Hangzhou East Railway Station and Hangzhou International Airport. It will work to connect the railway traffic network with western and northern Zhejiang province with a designed annual passenger flow of 50 million people.
Terminal 4 of the Hangzhou International Airport is a key building of the airport's phrase-three project. By almost doubling the total area of T1, T2 and T3, the new terminal can accommodate more passengers in a more spacious area, making the airport the largest in Zhejiang province, the second largest in East China, and one of the most convenient transportation hubs for transfers. The airport's annual passenger throughput is also expected to jump to 90 million and its cargo throughput to reach 3.6 million metric tons.
