As a football fan, Atkay has also established a football team at Geely which had its debut performance at the quarter final of Geely's 35th anniversary football tournament last year.

Instead of being a striker or defender, Atkay is a goalkeeper, which, according to him, has many similarities with his work as an on-site crash safety analyst.

"We've made much effort before getting ready for a crash test, such as doing tens of thousands of data calculations and frame construction to keep the vehicle intact in a devastating hard blow. Just like goalkeepers, they have to be highly focused and have to keep their eye on the ball throughout the whole game," Atkay said.
