Flights from China's Hangzhou city to Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City resumed on Thursday as Flight VN9501 took off from Xiaoshan International Airport.

The Hangzhou-HCMC route is the second international passenger service resumed by the airport since its suspension due to the pandemic, and the fifth international route newly opened or resumed in Zhejiang.

Previously, several international routes had opened or been resumed, including Hangzhou-New York (freight), Wenzhou-Tokyo (freight), Wenzhou-Osaka (freight), and Hangzhou-Jakarta (passenger).

In the future, more passenger routes would reopen, including Hangzhou-Manila, Hangzhou-Kuala Lumpur, Hangzhou-Madrid, and Hangzhou-Lisbon.

China's domestic flights and passenger flow at airports in Zhejiang Province have also increased significantly since mid-June, with a month-on-month increase of 80 percent and 60 percent, respectively.

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport has seen an average of 760 flights per day and an average daily passenger throughput of 89,000 since July, which is basically the same as the passenger volume during the summer of 2019.
