A group of some 20 international students from Hangzhou Dianzi University recently paid a visit to a rural village in Xiaoshan district to explore the roots of Red culture, local media outlets reported.
The students are from Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Some of them have been studying in China for several years, have a certain understanding of Chinese culture, and can speak fluent Chinese.
The students visited the local peasant uprising memorial hall, listening to heroic stories behind the movement, and also visited the local history museum to learn about the achievements the village has made in pursuing common prosperity among the general public.

They also visited villagers' homes, learning about their daily lives and trying their hands at needling some laceworks related to the Hangzhou Asian Games. Lacework in Xiaoshan is used to make daily articles such as bedspreads, tea table cushions, and sofa covers, and the art form is continuing to evolve.
