The workshops of Kuka Home in Qiantang district, Hangzhou have managed to reduce their reliance on workers after installing a new automation system.
With this system, different furniture parts are scanned, transported, and assembled automatically. According to an engineer of the factory, the time needed to produce customized cupboards has been reduced from 72 hours to 24 hours because of this system.
Hangzhou has over the past few years been promoting its "future factory" initiative, which aims to empower its manufacturers with the use of digital and automation technologies.
The Kuka Home R&D Base for Whole-house Customization was listed as one of the new "future factories" of Zhejiang.
