Pingyao town in Yuhang district, Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, lies at the heart of the Liangzhu cultural heritage site, which has a history of more than 5,000 years.

Located in the western part of the town is China's earliest large-scale hydraulic project – the Liangzhu water conservancy system – which once consisted of 11 dams.

In addition, the Fanshan Graveyard in the town is where the largest number of jade wares was unearthed during Chinese prehistoric period.

The town is also home to Daguanshan honey peach. Hu Qijing, president of the Yuhang Honey Peach Association, said that the honey peach output in Pingyao reached 33 million yuan ($4.92 million) in 2021.

The campus of the Zhongfa Aviation University, which was established by Beihang University and Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile, is expected to be open in the town by 2023.
