The Zhejiang Provincial Museum was one of the only three museums awarded the honorary title of China's Most Innovative Museum of 2022 on International Museum Day on May 18, local media outlets reported.
A total of four museums in Zhejiang have been awarded the honorary title, including the Ningbo Museum in 2014, Zhejiang Museum of Natural History in 2017, and China Silk Museum in 2019, more than any other province in China.
Zhejiang Provincial Museum won the honor by organizing exhibitions jointly with district- and county-level museums, carrying out temporary and tour exhibitions at schools and residential communities, and stepping up efforts in scientific research and cultural relic protection technologies.
For example, the museum's participation in a project to protect and restore unearthed porcelain from Shuiqiu's Tomb in Lin'an city was recognized as one of the "2021 National Top 10 Cultural Relic Collection Restoration Projects".
As a pioneer in designing creative cultural products, the museum has assembled an association with other provincial entities, sharing resources and inspiring more creative cultural products.
For example, by encouraging other museums in Zhejiang province to take part in the 16th China Yiwu Cultural Products Trade Fair last year, the museum was praised by the organizing committee as an excellent organizer. An exhibition displaying a variety of ancient wedding supplies also helped the museum win the national title of "excellent developer of new exhibitions".
