Hangzhou celebrated the second Citizens' Day at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium on May 3, local media outlets reported.
Entitled "Welcoming the Asian Games", the celebrations were attended by over 200 constructor workers who helped build Asian Games sporting venues as well as citizen representatives from all walks of life.
Four students from Hangzhou let their imaginations run wild and drew sporting venues in their minds. They then put the frames in their hands into the props in turn, forming a large Hangzhou Asian Games postcard.
Kong Shengdong, an Asian Games volunteer and also a driver along Bus Line No 28, which passes the Huanglong Sports Center and Hangzhou Gymnasium every day, said he was excited to take part in the celebrations.
"I suggest everyone to drive one less day per week, travel in a green and low-carbon way, and help turn Hangzhou into a beautiful Asian Games host city," Kong said.
Ling Guoguang, 75, is also an Asian Games volunteer. His connections with the Asian Games started 32 years ago in Beijing.
"I once participated in the activities related to the Beijing Asian Games, running a total of 25 kilometers from Tiananmen Square to the Asian Games Village. I enjoy the fun of sports and want to promote the Asian Games at home through exercises," Ling said.
The celebrations were organized by the Hangzhou municipal publicity department, 19th Hangzhou Asian Games organizing committee, and sporting venue construction department.
