Hangzhou railways transported 4.6385 million passengers during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush which started from Jan 17 and ended on Feb 25, local media reported on Feb 26.

The Hangzhoudong Railway Station handled 3.63 million passengers.

The departing passengers mainly consisted of migrant workers and those who were visiting their relatives in other regions. The most common destinations included Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangsu and Henan provinces.

An additional 1,085 trains were added in Hangzhou to meet the surge in passenger numbers during the travel rush.

The Hangzhou railway authorities had also improved services for passengers and implemented strict measures to prevent and control COVID-19 during this period.
