Having lived in Hangzhou for over a year, Shin Byeon-kwan, a South Korean who runs a Korean barbecue restaurant, said he has become quite accustomed to the city's pace of life and is glad his business has been thriving.

Born in 1994, Shin first visited China nine years ago, when he was a second year student at a senior high school in Beijing.

"I was decently paid after graduating from the University of International Business and Economics and secured a job in Beijing," Shin recalled. "But the pace of life was so fast there that I often felt stressed out. So I decided to live in another city."

Coincidently, Shin was asked by his friend whether he was willing to start a business with him in Hangzhou. The young man agreed without any hesitation and this marked the beginning of their barbecue restaurant on the Binjiang Tianjie Business Street.

Shin has been focusing on developing new menus and providing the best quality food. To achieve this goal, he spent six months visiting over 40 suppliers in Hangzhou, Beijing and Yanbian before finally finding the most suitable beef and pork for his shop.

"We have also imported a ripening machine from South Korea as the meats would taste better and be easier to digest and absorb after seven days of ripening," Shin said.

He also regards Hangzhou to be a paradise for starting businesses.

"We have benefited from many friendly and convenient business policies, especially the 'At Most Once Visit' policy, which has allowed me to apply for all kinds of certificates at the civic center on the same day," Shin said.

Shin added he has been moved by the local residents' way of relaxing after a busy day at work. This has in turn inspired him to spend more time with his family and friends.

"I don't want to change cities anymore. I want to live in Hangzhou all the time," Shin said.
