Zhejiang province's new regulations on takeout food production and delivery will take effect on March 1.

According to the new regulations, takeout providers must livestream the cooking process on takeout platforms such as Meituan and Eleme, and all packages must come with single-use seals that meet specific standards.

The Hangzhou Administration for Market Regulation said that the use of such seals would reduce of the risk of food contamination during delivery. The commonly used tapes and staples will no longer be acceptable when the new regulations take effect.

A courier can decline a delivery order if the package is not intact or if the seal is broken. Customers can also decline accepting food that is not sealed appropriately.

According to the bureau, a provincewide campaign will take place in March and April to determine if the regulations are being followed. Those who refuse to obey will be fined and their names announced to the public.
