Elementary and secondary schools in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, started their new semesters on Aug 31 with the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 as the theme on the opening day.

At the Dongguan Elementary School, students underwent a fitness test as the final part of their "Asian Games Challenge". Many students also signed up for the challenge to do more sporting activities during their summer vacation. Outstanding performers were rewarded with medals.

The Tianchang Elementary School held a sports carnival and invited three Asian Games mascots and former Hangzhou Olympian Yang Yu.

Yang, who helped Team China secured a silver medal at the women's 4 x 200m freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, presented a special medal to Tan Ziyi, the most hardworking member of the school's sports team.
