Hangzhou Innovation Institute Yuhang, Beihang University and Hangzhou Antwork Network Technology Co recently launched the Urban Air Mobility Joint Laboratory, local media outlets reported on April 23.

The two sides will cooperate in personnel training, technology innovation, and business operations to boost Hangzhou's air transportation industry.

To date, the laboratory has attracted more than 20 researchers and their first task is to develop a smart management platform for the low altitude flights of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Hangzhou Innovation Institute Yuhang is affiliated to Beihang University, one of China's top science and technology institutes.

In 2018, Beihang University and the French Civil Aviation University signed a memorandum of understanding to build the Sino-French Aviation University in Hangzhou. Its Yuhang institute is responsible for construction preparations and teaching staff recruitment.

Hangzhou Antwork Network Technology Co is committed to building an urban air delivery network. In 2019, the company was granted the world's first license to operate an unmanned vehicle logistics business.

According to Zhang Lei, chief executive officer of the company, Antwork Network Technology Co has opened over 200 "air lines," which have a total length of over 100,000 kilometers.
