Every holiday, it has been common to see the figure of Tungamirai Mupona wearing a red waistcoat and offering voluntary services at railway stations and scenic spots. The Zimbabwean  is now in his fourth year at the local Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and his voluntary experience is as long as his days in Hangzhou.

After being attracted by the country from watching Jackie Chan's movies and Chinese landscape documentaries, Mupona made up his mind that he wanted to study at a Chinese college when he was in middle school and made his trip in 2017.

Aside from attending cultural and social practical activities organized by the school, Mupona has also played an active role in volunteering. He joined a volunteer team set up by the public security department in Shangcheng district for expats in 2018 and also encouraged his schoolmates to take part in it.

Mupona applied to his residential community to volunteer after the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in early 2020. He said he was inspired by a compatriot living in Yulin, Guangxi province, who stood out and helped disinfection at the bustling local railway station.
