In recent years, Hangzhou's software industry has permeated into all aspects of daily life, and the city is taking the lead in cloud computing, big data, internet of things, and mobile payment.

Statistics from the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of the Economy and Information Technology show that Hangzhou's software industry had an annual revenue of 498 billion yuan ($75.7 billion) in 2019, accounting for 80 percent of the provincial total. From January to September this year, software companies in Hangzhou generated 416.69 billion yuan in revenue, a year-on-year growth of 13.8 percent and ranking fifth among Chinese cities.

Eleven Hangzhou-based companies ranked among China's top 100 companies in the software and information technology services industry, two more than in 2019. This includes renowned brands such as Alibaba, Hikvision, and NetEase.

Hangzhou is striving to digitalize and upgrade its software industry, and new-generation information technologies, led by the software industry, have helped the local manufacturing industry develop more efficiently and intelligently.
