Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains by Chinese painting master Huang Gongwang (1269-1354) is regarded as one of the top 10 masterpieces in Chinese art history. In 1650, the near seven meters long painting was split into two pieces which are now hundreds of miles apart. Today, if you want to take a close look at the precious artwork, you need to either visit Taipei Palace Museum or Zhejiang Provincial Museum in Hangzhou.
Zhejiang Provincial Museum is the most prestigious museum in East China's Zhejiang province. Founded in 1929, it is also one of China's oldest museums. Over the past nine decades, the joint efforts of central and local governments have developed the institution into a first-class national museum.

The two branches of the museum house over 100,000 items of cultural heritage, representing a complete sequence of eras. In addition to the half of Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, there are other precious exhibits with distinct regional features and significant academic value, such as the pottery, lacquer ware, wooden ware, bone tools and ivory artifacts of the Hemudu Culture of the Neolithic era, the jade ware of the Liangzhu Culture of the Neolithic era, the bronzes and stoneware of the Kingdom of Yue and paintings and calligraphic works by Zhejiang artists of the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

These treasures reflect the political, economic and cultural landscapes of Zhejiang throughout various historical periods and reveal the profound culture of the region.
