Hangzhou plans to select 'digital tourism' destinations

Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, is planning to select its top 10 digital tourism destinations, which may be firms, industrial parks, or institutes make use of digital technology.
The selection will last until mid-September, when the top 10 digital tourism designations open to the public, giving more visitors the chance to learn about the city's initiative and promote digital technology.
Statistics by Hangzhou authorities show that Hangzhou's digital economy sector was valued at 379.5 billion yuan ($55.03 billion) in 2019, up 15.1 percent on a yearly basis. The added value accounted for 24.7 percent of the city's GDP in 2019.
Over the past half year, Hangzhou's digital economy sector was valued at 183.3 billion yuan, accounting for 24.8 percent of the city's GDP, a year-on-year increase of 10.5 percent.

Due to the strong performance of the city's digital economy, many international and national professional digital economy conferences have been held in Hangzhou.
In addition, more tourists to Hangzhou appeared to show a stronger desire to visit some of the city's digital technology landmarks.
To further promote the coordinated growth of Hangzhou's digital economy and tourism market, Hangzhou authorities have initiated a campaign to select the 10 most iconic digital economy destinations in the city.
After a series of reviews, the final list of the 10 digital tourism destinations will be revealed to the public in mid-September.
