Industrial tourism has become a burgeoning sector in recent years, attracting tourists by companies and industrial parks opening their doors to tourists and revealing the processes of industrial manufacturing.
On Aug 11, representatives from 20 industrial and tourism enterprises in Hangzhou brainstormed possible ways to infuse vitality into industrial tourism, aiming to raise the curiosity of tourists and stimulate consumption and industrial transformation.
Hangzhou is home to several industrial tourism destinations and many have been ranked by Chinese netizens as must-visit places. They include Xiangshan Arts Commune, a complex of white buildings which was crowned by tourists as the best place to take a photo, and the Zhijiang creative industry park, which received over 200,000 tourists last year to see its games and animations, film-making and art exhibitions.
In 2019, Zhejiang province announced 23 demonstration areas in industrial tourism, four of which are in Hangzhou. The city's highlighting of industrial tourism is in line with its development plan to promote the manufacturing sector and bring local brands to more people.
