City Brain, a digital platform focusing on the intelligent integration of key urban data, announced version 3.0 at the Alibaba Cloud Forum in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on June 9.

According to Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba, the new version will take advantage of AI technologies and aims to apply intelligent solutions in urban transportation, medical treatment, elderly insurance and public services.

"Relying on computing power and AI, City Brain will explore the implications of all services, objects and spaces going digital in the future," said Xu Shijun, vice president of Alibaba Cloud.

The platform has been tested in Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Zhengzhou, Haikou, Shijiazhuang, and Macao, as well as Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. It has played an important role in helping these cities handle emergencies in the fight against COVID-19 and has made clear the urgent need for governments to go digital.

"Digital transformation has contributed significantly to China's progress in government affairs and public services in recent years," said Zhang Jianfeng, president of Alibaba Cloud.
