Zhejiang offers advice on preventing infection to overseas Chinese via live stream

Zhejiang province held a live stream on May 8 to offer some advice to overseas Chinese on how to protect themselves from COVID-19.

Ying Kejing, a chief physician at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital affiliated with the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, was invited to participate and offer advice to overseas Chinese in countries such as Spain, Italy, Tanzania, Brazil, the United States, and the Netherlands.

Businessman Xia Zhaochun from Wenzhou has been conducting trade in Tanzania for nearly 15 years. He said many overseas Chinese there felt anxious whenever they caught a cold or had a fever. Ying assured them that the chances of being infected were small as long as they took preventative measures and avoided going outside as much as possible.

Exchange student Chen Xiu in the Netherlands asked for advice on what to do after recovering from a fever. Ying suggested staying at home for two weeks and disinfecting public toilets and kitchens.

Ying also instructed overseas Chinese to continue wearing face masks in places with many people and to wash their hands frequently.

The live stream was organized by the provincial health commission, the provincial government office for foreign affairs and overseas Chinese affairs, and the provincial federation of returned overseas Chinese.

The provincial health commission said it will continue to provide online medical assistance to overseas Chinese.
