Construction resumes on all stadiums for 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games

Construction on all 40 underway stadiums for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games has resumed, according to an announcement made at the 31st Hangzhou press conference on the prevention and control of the coronavirus held on March 5.
The press conference was attended by representatives from the Hangzhou health commission, the construction department of the organizing committee of the 2022 Asian Games, the Hangzhou sports bureau, the Hangzhou transportation bureau, and the organizing committee of the Qianjiang Century City.
According to Lu Chunjiang, deputy director of the construction department of the organizing committee of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, the 40 construction projects are located in Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Ningbo, Jinhua, Shaoxing, and Deqing.
He said that more than 9,000 construction workers had returned to work and no cases of coronavirus pneumonia had been reported among them.
Lu said that construction procedures will be streamlined, and the number of workers and pieces of mechanical equipment will be increased to make up for the lost time.
He said that construction on all stadiums will be completed and enter the testing phase by March 2021.
According to Qi Xianzhong, a top official at the Hangzhou sports bureau, Hangzhou sports authorities are calling on all stadiums throughout the city to offer free admission to medical workers, and 42 stadiums in the city have already announced that they will do so.
According to a report delivered by Xie Daopu, deputy director of the Hangzhou heath commission, as of March 4, there had been no new reported cases of coronavirus infection in Hangzhou for 14 consecutive days.
