Exhibition summarizes Hangzhou archaeological discoveries in 2019

Nearly 500 sets of cultural relics unearthed in Hangzhou over the past year debuted at an exhibition held at the newly-opened Hangzhou Seawall Ruins Museum, in Jianggan district, Hangzhou on Jan 7.
Statistics showed that 17 archaeological projects had been carried out in 2019, covering an area of 15,800 square meters.
A total of 6,532 sets of cultural relics had been unearthed from 479 ancient tombs.
Tang Junjie, director of the Hangzhou archaeology institute, said that Hangzhou made a number of big discoveries in several archaeological sites.
Among them, the ancient archaeological ruins of the states of Wu and Yue discovered in Lin’an district, the archaeological ruins of the royal palace of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) unearthed in Shangcheng district, and the ancient seawall ruins discovered in Qianjiang New City were listed among the most significant archaeological discoveries made in Zhejiang province in 2019.
